Peter Warukenya Wainaina, from Nyamang’ara Parish, Mangu Deanery, is the talented singer behind Mugate wa Ngano, a beloved communion song that has touched many hearts.
Born into a family of girls, Peter is the firstborn and the only male child. His musical talent runs in the family, as his maternal uncles and aunts are choir singers. He attributes his gift for music to his maternal side, where he was surrounded by the sounds of choral harmonies from an early age.

Beyond music, Peter is a devoted family man who balances his passion for gospel music with his responsibilities at home. He is also a businessman, running Petwa Sound Services, a public address company that provides professional sound systems for events.
His musical career began during the COVID-19 period when he released his first song, Ngai Twehererie Korona, a heartfelt prayer for God’s mercy during the pandemic. However, it was Mugate wa Ngano that truly made him a household name. Inspired by his love for communion songs, he first came up with the melody and naturally found himself composing the lyrics.
Although the song hasn’t directly brought him financial gain, it has opened doors for him. Many people, upon realizing he is the artist behind the song, invite him to train choirs and share his musical knowledge. For Peter, this recognition is more valuable than money—he finds joy in spreading the gospel through music.
